General technical requirements for disposable mask forming and packaging production lines

From November 4th to 5th, the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Packaging Machinery (SAC/TC436) held a seminar in Dongguan on the national standard "General Technical Requirements for Disposable Mask Production and Packaging Lines." The meeting was chaired by Chen Runjie, Secretary-General of the Standardization Committee. Sun Xuliang, Director of the Standardization and Technical Management Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation, and Ou Nanyan, Deputy Director of the Municipal Market Supervision Bureau, attended and delivered speeches. Over 60 people attended the seminar, including members of the Standardization Committee, relevant technical experts, and representatives from Dongguan businesses.

At the meeting, the National Standards Committee's expert group first introduced the framework of the national standard for disposable mask production lines. The participating leaders and experts conducted in-depth discussions on the various provisions and scope of application of the standard. Experts pointed out that accelerating the introduction of standards for mask machines and forming long-term, stable national standards to guide industry development will effectively promote the personalization, refinement, automation, and intelligence of mask manufacturers, and promote the development and progress of the mask production industry.

After the meeting, the expert group also visited the production workshop of Huitong Automation Equipment Co., Ltd., a Wanjiang mask manufacturer that took the lead in formulating national standards, and expressed affirmation of the overall strength of the Wanjiang mask industry.

It is understood that in May this year, the Municipal Market Supervision Administration and Wanjiang Street signed the "Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement on Jointly Promoting the High-Quality Development of Wanjiang Mask Industry". The two parties focused on the five-in-one strategy of "standard improvement, intellectual property rights, regional brands, scientific and technological innovation, and talent cultivation", focused on goals and tasks, established a special working leading group, strengthened policy guarantees and financial support, and successively built the Wanjiang Health Protection Products Innovation Industrial Park and the Mask and Equipment Industry Exhibition and Innovation Center, promoted the establishment of the Municipal Mask and Equipment Industry Association, mobilized enterprises to participate in the formulation of national industry standards for mask machines, and actively created the "Wanjiang Mask" regional brand to help epidemic prevention material companies open up export channels.

Currently, Wanjiang boasts 12 major mask manufacturers, producing approximately 8 million flat masks and 5.11 million folding masks (KN95) per day. Fourteen major mask machine manufacturers also own 60% of the production and processing capacity for these machines' parts. During the pandemic, Wanjiang Subdistrict actively coordinated the supply of epidemic prevention and control supplies, leveraging its industrial advantages to contribute significantly to epidemic prevention and control. Going forward, Wanjiang will continue to implement multiple measures to promote the high-quality development of the mask and equipment industries, advancing the "Quality Wanjiang, Intelligent Manufacturing for Health" strategy and providing strong protection for people's lives and health.
